The Castro is definitely one of San Francisco’s sexiest neighborhoods. Of course, it’s considered the “gay neighborhood” so sexuality is at the forefront of people’s minds when they head here but it’s more than that. It’s the totally raw and open sexiness that you experience here. Step out onto the street from the BART station and you can feel a palpable sexual energy in the air. It’s steamy even on days when the rest of the city is clammy and cold.

If you’re wandering around The Castro and trying to figure out what the sexiest things to do there are, plan to start with one of the following ten options:

1. Badlands. This wild nightclub in The Castro is one of those places that you should go to at least once. I’m not saying that it’s the best bar in The Castro or even that it’s all that great. There are definitely bars and clubs that I enjoy a lot more all throughout this sexy neighborhood. But Badlands is something of an experience with hot young boys dancing all over each other and sexy bartenders making strong drinks. People who were fans of the show Queer as Folk when they were young will know that this is the place in San Francisco most similar to the Babylon of the show.
2. Femina Potens. This is a sexy art gallery and performance art space on Market where there is always something hot going on. They have monthly events, like the Sizzle erotic reading series, as well as one-time events featuring everyone from porn stars to sex educators. And the art on the walls is always sexy.
3. Castro Theatre. A different kind of sexy can be found at the Historic Castro theatre where old movies grace the screen, an organ player comes up out of the stage and all kinds of romantic charm can be discovered in the opulence and grandiosity of the space.
4. Eros. This is a bath house for men looking to pick up other men so that’s what makes it sexy but that’s not actually all that you’ll find here. They also feature an art gallery with the work of sexy local artists and they have various events that are open to both genders (such as the monthly open mic reading series K’vetch.)
5. Sunday brunch. Brunch in the Castro on Sundays is an event and it’s a sexy event at that. The place to go is Lime where you’ll feel like you’re in the midst of a club as you drink your bottomless mimosas and get your buzz on. Pretty much every brunch spot in the Castro is packed on Sundays though.
6. Hot Cookie. Everyone should satisfy their sweet tooth at least once with a penis-shaped cookie from this store. If you’re looking for real dessert, head around the corner to Sweet Inspiration which is sexy in its own kind of way but not nearly as fun as Hot Cookie.
7. Injeanious. This is the store that you’ll notce as you walk along Castro Street because it almost always has a hot display of underwear in the window. People go here to get cute T-shirts and clothes to go clubbing in and to check out who else is shopping around.
8. Does Your Father Know? This is another sexy spot for people who are doing some shopping in The Castro. Here you’ll find lots of novelty items so it’s really great if you want to pick up some silly sexy stuff for your friends from back home. There’s a sister store - Does Your Mother Know? - but this one is the more risque of the two.
9. Worn Out West. Finally, as far as shopping goes, you don’t want to miss Worn Out West where you can get lots of leather clothing and things like floggers.
10. People watching. In my opinion, the hottest thing to do in The Castro is to find a place to park yourself and do some people watching. The men here are hot. The women here are hot. The people who are not quite either or may be both are hot. I don’t know what it is about the air in this part of the city but I swear it swirls around people differently and puts a sparkle of sexuality on otherwise normal bodies.
