Want to Win Last Year’s Sex Toy of the Year? Go to Good Vibes.

Did you pay any attention to the 2009 Sexaminer Awards? If so then you know that last year’s sex toy of the year was the Axis with Hitachi by Liberator. This toy is a combination of the famous Hitachi Magic Wand and a piece of sex furniture. The thinking behind sex furniture is that given the right angles you can have better sex. And the thinking behind this product is “why not make it even better by adding a space for your Hitachi?”

So what’s this about winning one of these things?

Well, there’s a free event at Good Vibes on March 14th and if you go then you can enter to win this toy there. The event itself should be interesting. It’s a talk by Carol Queen about how to use sex furniture. It starts at 5:30 on Sunday at the Polk Street location.

Sexy SF Style Bloggers

I have been noticing over the past few months that the RSS feeds that I’ve tagged “SF Style” keep growing in number. I thought that it was me - that I just kept discovering new San Francisco style blogs to follow. However, I’m coming to see that it’s actually a trend. More and more people seem to be interested in, writing about and following the wonderful bloggers who highlight the unusual fashion sense of San Francisco residents.

Asterisk San Francisco just a spread featuring four local style bloggers: Jenni of Going West, Diane Vo of DarlingVintage, Catie of Cuffington and Aimee of Song of Style. And 7×7 just did a write-up about nearly a dozen female bloggers who are stylish and sexy. In addition to some of the same four hot ladies featured in the Asterisk spread, they had Liz from Late Afternoon, Annabel from Blushing Ambition, Christina from ProFreshStyle, Helen from Chictopia, Sophia from Nasty Gal, Lorraine from SF Indie Fashion (a favorite blog of mine!) and the sexy due behind the SF Style.

These are all strong women who have a unique sense of style, interesting women who share their thoughts with the world and sexy women who make San Francisco a better place to live. Thanks ladies!

Espetus Churrascaria: Phallic Indulgence for Your Taste Buds

Elegant well-dressed waiters glide around the room holding large phallic skewers of grilled meats out in front of them. The lights are dim enough to create a romantic ambience. The crowd is happy, stylish, salivating. Everything that goes into your mouth tastes amazing. This is the experience that I had this weekend at Espetus Churrascaria, the Brazilian steakhouse located at the corner of Market and Gough. This restaurant is more than just a restaurant; it’s a sexy dining experience.

The meat is the main reason to love this place. Although I don’t eat meat much and rarely eat steak, I have to say that every single morsel I put into my mouth was worth letting linger there on my tongue because of how delicious it was. Meat that literally melts in your mouth like butter sitting out on the counter on a warm day. Meat that is correctly described on the restaurant’s website as “succulent”. Meat that is brought right to the side of your table, sliced directly off of a large skewer that balances easily in the strong grip of your waiter. Meat that manages to make you feel sexy as it slides down your throat.

But there is more than just meat to this whole affair. There is an entire buffet of vegetable side dishes that you won’t want to miss out on (although you won’t want to indulge in too much either or you won’t have room for all of that sexy meat). Hearts of palm, grilled vegetables marinated in a tasty vinegar, mango salad … it’s an orgasm of the mouth just waiting to happen (and a buffet unlike any that you’ve ever been to).

Of course, no meal would be complete without drinks and dessert. Amazing sangrias that make you feel pleasantly tipsy although you don’t realize right away that they pack a little punch. Custards and other savory treats that you’ll wonder how you can fit into your body after indulging in so much meat. It’s the kind of meal that should be done Italian-style, that should be done the way that great sex is done, lingering for hours as your body digests and gets ready for more.

Mmmmmmmm.

Sex::Tech Conference 2010

Sex is great. It’s fun. It’s healthy. It’s exciting, exploratory and expressive. However, it has its negative side, too, of course. It’s important that we learn as much as we can about sex so that we do it safely, right? And it’s even more important that we make sure to educate our kids to have a healthy approach to sex. This isn’t just about using condoms; it’s about being armed with a better understanding of sex as a whole in order to get the best out of it.

There’s a conference here in the city this week that touches on this important issue. It’s the Sex:Tech conference that starts Friday February 26th and runs through the weekend. The tech part of the event this year is all about mobile technologies. And what is the conference really all about? From their website:

The Internet and mobile technologies have strengthened youth networks, provided new avenues for expression, and increased youth access to tools and information designed to improve their sexual health. Sex::Tech explores available tools and methods for reaching youth with culturally appropriate STD/HIV prevention and sex education interventions.

The kids of today are using this technology; shouldn’t youth sex educators be using it too? You can check out the whole schedule but some of the highlights include:

  • A really great keynote topic. Apparently a bunch of kids were asked about the best and worst advice adults had given them about sex. Hearing what they had to say sounds like a great way to kick off the event!
  • A talk about the issue of client confidentiality when it comes to social media. What a great topic!
  • Speakers discussing their work in positions like being a feminist sex educator or working with teens in peer groups to discuss sex.
  • Using text message to increase STD testing. Genius!
It really looks like a smart conference on sex. It’s located at the JW Marriott on the corner of Post and Mason.

Sexy SF Girls on Bikes

Just a quick note to point out over at Spots Unknown featuring a couple of sexy girls on bikes in San Francisco. It looks like the author did a search for exactly that topic on Flickr and found the best couple of images. Sounds like a great idea. Here are some more from the Flickr search:

Sexy SF Hotel Deal: Spin, Whip and Sprinkle

One of the sexy thing that San Francisco locals might think about doing for Valentine’s Day is to getaway from home by staying in a local hotel. There are a lot of great hotels here from the fancy schmancy chains to the great little boutiques. But there is one set of hotels that’s doing something really sexy … and you don’t have to book your stay for Valentine’s Day to enjoy it.

The Personality Hotels are offering a package called Spin, Whip and Sprinkle that lets your hotel room become a naughty sweet adult playroom. You get a bunch of bonus stuff with your stay that makes the room sexy and fun. You can get this deal at any of the local personality hotels (Hotel Union Square, Hotel Vertigo, Kensington Park and more) which all have great deluxe rooms that you’ll enjoy even without the treats.

But of course you want to know about the treats:

  • The “spin” part of the deal is an adult-themed spin the bottle game that you’ll find in your room. It’s the JimmyJane Spin Me Game. It’s designed for use by two people but this is San Francisco after all so it can be used by more than two people at a time as well.
  • The “whip” part of the package is, as you might have guessed, whipped cream.
  • The “sprinkle” is candy sprinkles. What you do with your whipped cream and sprinkles is entirely up to you. Be creative and sexy!
Plus you get a bottle of wine to enjoy in your great room.
This deal is good through July so it doesn’t have to be a Valentine’s getaway thing. However, if you book your stay for February, you’ll also get candy conversation hearts and some other Valentine’s goodies.

Like Beer? Like Burlesque? Free Thursday Night?

If you’re a fan of beer and you live here in the city then you probably know that it’s SF Beer Week. There are a bunch of events going on at bars and breweries around the city all week long. Perhaps the sexiest of those events, though, is Beerlesque.

That’s right, it’s a burlesque performance by the Hot Hot Hot Hubba Hubba Revue in celebration of Beer Week. It’s happening Thursday night at Paradise Lounge. Entry is $8 before 10 and $10 after that.

There will be burlesque performances by:

Sister Kate!
Honey Lawless!
Pin Key Lee!
Room for Cream!
Madam Chartreuse!
Miss Balla Fire!
Delilah!

It’ll be interesting to see if any of these hot performers work beer into their routines!! There will also be sideshow entertainment, musical performances and comedy from this more-than-just-a-burlesque-troupe variety group.

Have fun if you make it to the event!

Local Contest: Do You Want to be the Ambassador of Sexy?

Usually I try not to post about sexy things that are happening outside of San Francisco’s city limits. I know that there are lots of things around the Bay Area that are sexy but that’s just not the focus of this city-centric blog. What can I say; I love my city and think it’s the sexiest city in the world so I just don’t want to bother focusing on things outside of the city. However, I’m making an exception to mention a local-ish sexy contest that I think looks really fun.

The contest is being hosted by East Bay store 5733. They sell lots of interesting sexy indie clothes including the Japanese Schoolgirl Flag Hoodie pictured at the beginning of this post (image directly from their site). The sexy hoodie costs $175 but you have the opportunity to win it for free by entering the brand’s recent contest. It’s a photo contest to find the person that will be dubbed

THE AMBASSADOR OF SEXY

The contest is simple:

  • Get yourself something from 5733.
  • Take a picture of yourself being as sexy as possible in your 5733 gear.
  • Send it in.
The staff will use a secret ballot to vote on which photo they think is the sexiest. That will determine the winner. They do make it a point to say that they don’t necessarily consider themselves “traditional” when it comes to what they consider sexy and so they encourage participants to:
“Shock us with your creativity, wit, and raw unbridled animal attraction!!!”
Sounds like fun. The deadline for submission is March 1st. The rest of the details are here.

Sexy San Francisco Walking Tours

The weather hasn’t been too ideal for walking tours lately but they still remain one of my favorite things to do here in San Francisco. I’ve been on walking tours of the city’s public spaces, of the murals in the Mission, of the urban coastline … And of course there are tons of sexy walking tours in San Francisco if that’s what you’re looking for.

Some of the sexy walking tours to consider taking include:

  • Bawdy and Naughty. This is a free (by donation) tour of the old Barbary Coast area which is given by SF City Guides. It’s a weekly tour that happens almost every Monday morning.
  • Nude, Lewd and Crude. This walking tour covers some of the same area as the first one but it’s a comedic walking tour that really gets into the strippers and other liberals of the North Beach area.
  • Cruisin’ the Castro. This is a $35 tour that hits on some of the Castro’s highlights and gives you a lot of insight into the history of the GLBT movement here.
  • Go West Young Woman. This is a comedic walking tour that tells you about the lives of ten divas who did it their way. These are all sexy women!
  • Sex in the City Tour of San Francisco. This one purports to take you to all of the highlights like the Vibrator Museum (at Good Vibes) and the not-so-maiden lane.
  • Shanghai San Francisco. Want to do something different? This is a theater experiences but instead of being set in a theater it’s set throughout the city. Lasts about two hours and you’re sure to see something sexy.
  • Tour of North Beach Strip Clubs. This isn’t just a walking tour. It’s a tour inside of a bunch of the strip clubs in North Beach. It’s pricey but it’s a lot cheaper than going in them all yourself and rumor is that you get the VIP treatment.
Have you done any of them yet?

Violet Blue Will Teach You How to Kiss

I’m a little late with the news since it came out last week but I just found out that local sex blogger (among other talents) Violet Blue has a new book that came out a few weeks ago. It’s called Seal it With a Kiss and it’s all about how to improve your kissing technique.

I haven’t read the book but I love this idea!

There are so many books out there about how to be a better lover, how to provide better oral sex, etc. But too many people forget about kissing. There are so many different ways to kiss. And it’s something that you do all of the time with your partner without even thinking about it. If you just put a little bit of thought into it then this daily activity could get really hot again.

Learn more about her book from her blog post about it.
