I have only been a resident of San Francisco since January 2006 but I fell head over heels in love with the city long before that. I was eighteen and had spontaneously decided to jump in my pickup truck (a sexy white pickup truck, if I do say so myself) and head to San Francisco. I knew almost nothing about the city. I can recall only a few of the things that I did in the few days that I was here but the details don’t matter. What matters was that as I left my heart leaped out of my chest, lodged itself into the streets of San Francisco and demanded forever after that I return.

There are some cities that do that for people - make them fall in love. And it’s the kind of love where you are better when you are there. You are more inspired. You are more creative. You are happier. That’s what San Francisco is for me and every day that I am here I think I grow more and more open to being whoever I’m meant to be because San Francisco is going to love me all the more for it.

As for the other pesky details, I’m a full-time freelance writer with a long history of all different types of writing jobs. I have been a music journalist and a horoscope writer and a porn reviewer and a blogger for a number of leading sites in topics as diverse as technology and travel. I have written two books about ghosts in the city and co-authored a book on alternative home building and contributed to a couple of other things over the years. I love to write and I love to learn and I’m happy to be able to make a living doing that and I’ll take on most topics and jobs if I think that they’re at least a little bit interesting.

So I’ve done a lot of writing for a lot of different blogs and publications. And yet I’ve decided to launch this new blog. I don’t need the money (she says with a slight laugh as she doesn’t expect the blog to make her money only to make her happy). I don’t have some other agenda. I just think that San Franciso is a vibrant, passionate, wonderful, sexy city and I think that writing about it will be fun for me. Hopefully reading about it here will be fun for you.
