Sexecology: Make Love to the Earth

I was just browsing around for sexy things to do here in San Francisco this week when I stumbled upon some interesting information about the latest exhibit over at the sexy art gallery Femina Potens. The exhibit is a showing of the work of artist couple Annie Sprinkle and Elizabeth Stephens. And it just might be the most interesting sexy thing I’ve heard about in awhile because it’s about their personal commitment to spread the word about an movement they’ve decided to call SEXECOLOGY.

The idea behind sexecology is that being green is sexy. That’s not a new idea, though. What is new about this movement is that it really takes the idea of loving the earth to the next level. This couple believes that if we stop thinking about the Earth in terms of being our “mother” and we start thinking about the Earth as our lover then we just might begin to care a little bit more about the earth. The movement (and the artwork that goes along with it) takes a sexual approach to loving the land. Interesting.

This couple is wholly committed to this movement. This is exhibited by the fact that their wedding vows expressed this commitment. The couple has actively committed to a marriage with the earth, the land and the sea. Together they make passionate art that is said to be eco-erotic. It’s green, it’s creative and it’s sexy. And you can check it out be visiting the Femina Potens gallery. Although you can go to the gallery any time between now and January 10th, there are three special events that you should specifically consider checking out:

  1. Dec. 17.  Thursday. 7:00-8:30. International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers: A Memorial Vigil Ritual.
  2. Dec. 19.  Saturday.  1:00-4:00.  The Sexecologists are In. Annie & Beth will show you around, chat, answer your questions.
  3. Jan. 3.  Sunday. 2:00-3:30. Sexecological Walking Tour with Beth & Annie. Meet at Femina Potens, and take a walk to explore your ecosexuality– rain or shine. $15.
That last one is the one that I’m really interested in checking out!
At the exhibit you will also get to see the new poster that the couple has made that lists 25 Ways that you can Make Love to the Earth. That list (as take from their Love Art Lab website) is as follows:
1. Tell the Earth, “I love you. I can’t live without you.”
2. At first you may feel embarrassed to be lovers with the Earth. Let it go. It’s OK.
3. Spend time with her.
4. Ask her what she likes, wants, and needs– then try to give it to her.
5. Massage the Earth with your feet. 6. Admire her views often.
7. Circulate erotic energy with her.
8. Smell her.
9. Taste her.
10. Touch all her all over.
11. Hug and stroke her trees.
12. Talk dirty to her plants.
13. Swim naked in her waters.
14. Lay on top of her, or let her get on top of you.
15. Do a nude dance for her.
16. Sing to her.
17. Kiss and lick her.
18. Bury parts of your body deep inside her soil.
19. Plant your seeds in her.
20. Love her unconditionally even when she’s angry or cruel.
21. Keep her clean. Please recycle.
22. Work for peace. Bombs hurt.
23. If you see her being abused, raped, exploited, protect her as best you can.
24. Protect her mountains. Stop mountaintop removal mining.
25. Vow to love, honor and cherish the Earth until death brings you closer together forever.
San Francisco is a beautiful part of the Earth. Do you want to make love to it?
