Alchemy: Sexy Art/Fashion Show This Weekend
There are so many different creative things going on in San Francisco through the end of the month that my head is starting to spin. Events are about to begin for National Dance Week and The International Film Festival (check back over the next couple of days for tips on what to see at those) and yet there are also tons of single-day events still happening throughout April.
One of the ones that I’ve got my eye on is Alchemy. This is apparently an annual art and fashion event that’s going on its third year but I’m just now finding out about it. It looks like one that’s worth putting on the annual event calendar. The cool thing about this event is that it’s designed to be highly interactive so you’re helping to make the art and live performance rather than just hanging out and watching it happen.
Things that are going to be featured at Alchemy include:
- A musical art exhibit called Perceptron Project in which you make movements and they turn into music. I think that this one could end up being super sexy if it’s done right and just plain fun no matter how it’s done.
- Solid gold fashion show featuring designs from around the world that are all inspired by the theme of alchemy. Certainly going to be hot.
- A painted lady that you’re going to get the chance to add paint on to if that’s your thing.
- Various kinetic sculptures. For those of you who aren’t sure what this means, all that you really need to know is that you get to play with these toys.
Plus you’ve got your usual party atmosphere with live painting and face painting and circus-like fun. It sounds fabulous. It’s happening at the California Modern Art Gallery on Saturday, April 25th. It’s from 9-2, the fashion show starts at 10 and tickets are $20 at the door.
