New School of Shimmy Classes Start this Weekend
Dottie Lux’s School of Shimmy is one of the best places that you can go to learn how to be a burlesque performer. You take a series of classes through which you learn the basics of burlesque including choreography and costume-making. During these classes, you develop your burlesque persona and then at the end of the sessions you get the chance to perform your own piece on the stage of El Rio where Dotti’e Lux’s burlesque group (Red Hots Burlesque) performs every week.
If this sounds interesting to you, get your calendar out and your dancing shoes on because the next set of classes is starting this Sunday. Classes scheduled for this School of Shimmy session are as follows:
- Fan Dancing Lesson on April 19th
- Burlesque 101 Basics on April 23rd or May 7th
- Pastie-Making and Tassel-Twirling on April 27th
- Hair and Make-Up Lessons on May 11th
- Burlesque 201 on May 17th
- Gender Bending Lesson on May 18th
- Rehearsal on May 28th
- Live Performance at El Rio on June 5th
