Mama Calizo’s Voice Factory Theatre is a sexy performance art space inside of the Center for Sex and Culture that borders the neighborhoods of SoMA and the Mission. I’ve seen tons of cool things here including a performance by The Wet Spots and a monthly poetry slam. And for all that I have seen here, there are always so many things that I miss because the calendar never fails to have something sexy on it that I would’ve seen if I’d had the time.

There are two shows that are starting up there this weekend and running for a couple of weekends in a row and both of them are on my list of “things I’m going to go see if I manage to make it fit into my calendar somewhere”.

The first is a solo show created by Kitten on the Keys called Does this Piano Make My Ass Look Big? Kitten on the Keys must be the single most prolific burlesque performer in this city because I’ve seen her perform at just about every burlesque performance I’ve been to here. I’ve also seen her play her sexy piano at non-burlesque events and apparently now she’s got her own show over at Mama Calizo’s. Her calendar indicates that this might be the last time to see her for awhile though because it looks like she’s taking some time to go overseas and do her thing there. She’ll be there Friday-Sunday this week and next though for her show which is an amazing creative live music performance by the sexy star.

The second show that appears to also be starting at Mama Calizo’s this weekend and running again next week is called Out of Order: A Musical that Comes Out of the Toilet. This one is an acrobatic performance art event performed by the local group named Fou Fou Ha! It’s a musical set in a toilet that includes drag queens and cabaret singing and dance and silliness and probably a lot of sexy fun.

Seems like Mama Calizo’s is a venue to put on the list for the next couple of weeks, don’t you think?
