I’ll come right out and say that this post isn’t about something that is sexy per se but it’s about something in San Francisco that I just discovered and really like so I’m going to digress from the sexy for a moment in order to share it. It’s the Green Zebra. This is a coupon book that’s kind of like the Entertainment Book that we all know (and probably don’t love). However, the Green Zebra is a coupon book that’s designed specifically to give you discounts at local, green businesses in San Francisco.

I came upon this coupon book because it was being sold at the front counter of my yoga studio. The studio has a coupon in there that is actually worth more to me than the entire cost of the coupon book which is only $25 so I figured it was worth my money to go ahead and buy it. Flipping through it, I’m finding tons of local businesses that I want to support.

There are all kinds of things in this coupon book that I wouldn’t have imagined I’d find in there. For example, Elixir - that bar in the Mission that I’ve personally been to for trivia nights and tequila tastings - has drink specials for their organic cocktails and beer. Now that’s something green that you don’t see advertised in most places!

Come to think of it, it could be argued that quite a few of these green businesses are actually kind of sexy. There are discount coupons for a number of places that offer massages and facials and other things designed to bring out your inner sexiness. Kabuki Springs is on there and I’ve got that on my list of 60 super sexy things to do in San Francisco.

And there are a whole lot of restaurants featured in this book which offer up great-for-the-senses treats. Some of these are places with a bit of sexy ambience to them - like Ramblas Tapas on Valencia (which is a nice place to get a bite to eat on the way to some place steamy around there like Kinky Salon or The Makeout Room). And some of them are coupons for specific dishes that sound titillating to the taste buds - like the free sour cherry bread pudding offered by 2323 Restaurant and Bar.

Yes, this may be a post about a coupon book designed to save you money while going green and supporting local business but I think I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that there was something sexy to be discovered here as well!
