60 Super Sexy Things to do in San Francisco
There are so many sexy things that you can do in San Francisco that it’s hard to pick just one. So let’s go with sixty instead.
Here are 60 sexy things that you can choose to do in San Francisco ranging from tours of the history’s sexy past to sexy performances happening in the city today:
- Check out Writers With Drinks. This is a literary event that happens about once a month at the Make Out Room (what a sexy name for a sexy event, right?) Several hot readers get up and read pieces of their published and unpublished writing. A favorite seems to be sexy girls reading about their first lesbian experiences but there are all sorts of exciting things coming out of the mouths of these local writers.
- Take the Bawdy and Naughty Walking Tour. This is a free guided walking tour that’s part of the super-informative and really cool San Francisco City Guides tour lineup. This one takes you along two blocks of San Francisco where you learn about “how, starting with the Gold Rush, professional women arrived to become a part of San Francisco’s legend and lore”. It happens on most Mondays of the year and you simply have to show up and learn - although donations of an amount that you can afford are appreciated to keep cool free tours like this running.
- Get your flirt on at the Oh La Lounge. Most of the events for mingling in the city are basically designed for singles who want to hook up. At the Oh La Lounge, the people there may or may not be single but the point is just to flirt and have a good time. People in monogamous relationships mingle with people in polyamorous relationships and people who aren’t in relationships for the sole purpose of just flirting. How sexy is that?!
- Have dinner at AsiaSF. The multi-course meals here are wonderful but they aren’t what will get your mouth watering. What will is the performance by transgendered stars who look absolutely stunning and are completely able to convince you that you want to go home with them.
- Go to Good Vibrations. This place sells sex toys but it’s so much more than just a sex toy store. It’s got events and classes and lectures. It’s got people who are interesting and involved in the city. And yes, it’s got toys.
- Exercise with Burlesquercise classes. The art of burlesque is far more than just a strip tease show. It’s a performance art. And it’s something that really gets you up and moving around. There are classes offered that let you exercise in a way that you probably never have before!
- Be a participant or a voyeur at the Power Exchange. This multi-level sex club is a place where you can pretty much see it all and do it all in a no-judgments-made-here environment. Whether you want to just dance and watch or you’re going there in search of some action, you’ll probably leave with a story to tell. (NOTE: the San Francisco location is temporarily closed but a new Power Exchange in Vegas has opened up and welcomes SF residents who didn’t get the chance to do this SF thing while the opportunity was here.)
- Dine in the dark at Opaque. Sexy isn’t always about sex; sometimes it’s about sensuality. That’s the idea at Opaque, a dark dining restaurant where you eat your delectable meal without actually being able to see it or anything else around you. The lack of visual stimulation heightens your other senses, letting you enjoy your food to the fullest and feel sexier than you usually do while dining.
- Live orgasmically. You can take classes and courses in Orgasmic Living from One Taste. You’ll learn to play with your own boundaries, get in better touch with yourself and have all sorts of sexy fun. This place also has a slew of classes and events that are of interest to anyone who likes sexiness.
- Whip and be whipped at Bondage-a-Go-Go. This once-weekly bondage club in the SoMA is a two-level dance club which also features bondage acts on display. If you’re into the BDSM scene then you can make friends here. If you’re just curious, you’re welcome to watch. Wear your hottest fetish wear and feel fabulous.
- Hire a BDSM Coach. Not quite sure what the whole BDSM is all about and don’t want to try it out for the first time in a public space like Bondaeg-a-Go-Go? Take classes or get one-on-one (or one-on-two) coaching from an experienced mentor and educator in the art of SM.
- Check out a performance by the Hubba Hubba Revue. This is one of San Francisco’s most elaborate burlesque performance groups and not-to-be-missed if you’re interested in the art of burlesque.
- Be entertained at the Pink Slip. This is a once-weekly performance night at The Stud. It’s billed as “drag cabaret” and it’s nothing if it’s not hot. It pushes boundaries with subjects ranging from school boys to bestiality so be forewarned that this is sexy on display.
- Try something different at Divas. If you like things that are sexy then you have probably already been to more than one strip club in your life. But have you been to one where the strippers used to be men and are now in various stages of transition to female? If you haven’t, your missing out. These chicks are hot. Question your assumptions and make a night of it at this multi-level bottoms-stay-on strip club and bar.
- Attend the circus - sexy style. San Francisco has an alternative circus troupe called the Vau de Vire Society which has regular sexy performances like the Bohemian Carnival held at the DNA Lounge in the SoMA.
- Write about your sex work experiences. If you’ve ever done any kind of sex work and you want to share your writing about it in a safe place then you’ll want to check out the twice-monthly Sex Workers’ Writing Workshop with Gina De Vries. There are also other erotic writing and reading classes held at The Center for Sex and Culture for those people who aren’t sex workers but who like to write about sex.
- Eat oysters at Absinthe. Oysters are considered to be one of the best aphrodisiacs there are to indulge in. You can get them at other places in the city but you want to get them at Absinthe, a bar and restaurant once voted among San Francisco’s sexiest restaurants. And of course you can top it off with absinthe there now which just adds to the hazy sexiness of the meal.
- Experience the BDSM scene at The City’s Dungeon (aka The Citadel). With more than five thousand square feet of play space, this is where you can go to enjoy the city’s bondage-and-more scene. It’s got all of the things that you might need (cages, spanking benches, St. Andrews crosses, you name it) but it’s a no-pressure play space where you’re supposed to have fun.
- Support the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. San Francisco’s Queer Nuns help do a lot of great things around this community and they do it in large part by hosting huge events that are more often that not super sexy. Support them in a multitude of ways including attendance at said events.
- Drink wine. California is in love with its wine and you’ll find that there are tons of events where you can go to taste and enjoy wine. The city also has a bunch of wine bars that are super sexy like Nectar Wine Lounge, First Crush, EOS Wine Salon and London Wine Bar.
- Hook up with someone on Craigslist. You use it for your apartment, your apartment’s furnishings, your roommates and your job so you might as well use it for something sexy as well. If you don’t want to go with a random hookup then you can meet someone strictly platonic to talk about sexy things or just browse through events and activities to find out what’s sexy in the city on any given day.
- Take a class in sex. Nobody knows everything that there is to know about sex. More an always be learned. And there’s a place called The Center for Sex and Culture which offers a diverse range of different classes and lectures that can help you stay on top of your game.
- Learn how to pole dance at Slinky Productions. If you always kind of wanted to be a stripper but thought it best to do it in the privacy of your own home then perhaps you didn’t learn the dance skills that you’d like to have to really show it off in your bedroom. You can learn in group or private classes at this Bay Area place of sexy instruction. They also have lap dancing classes.
- Lust after the city’s Go Go Boys. There are go-go dancers in a number of the different gay bars around town. N’Touch on Polk Street is one of the clubs most well-known for its dancers but plenty of other clubs have them as well.
- Lust after the city’s Go Go Girls. It’s not just the boys who go go dance in San Francisco. There is a group of really hot female entertainers called GoGo Gorgeous that can be seen and enjoyed around town at various events.
- Attend a “private party”. There are several private clubs that hold events around town - private parties where previously-approved couples (and sometimes singles) show up to mingle and meet others and see what happens. These events are intended to be a respectful way for open-minded couples to meet others to trade / share experiences with. Examples are Twist SF and Kinky Salon.
- Spend a weekend at Harbin Hot Springs. This is a clothing-optional retreat that people go to in order to relax and get in touch with themselves. It’s not a place for hooking up but instead is a place of sensual relaxation where you can enjoy the hot springs, get massages and embrace nature.
- Go to the nude beach. If you like the idea of just getting outside and getting naked then San Francisco’s nude beaches are the place where you want to be. The most well-known of these nude beaches - and the most friendly to all different types of people - is Baker Beach but there are several other nude beaches around as well.
- Dance naked in the streets. Technically you’re not supposed to get naked in public except in designated areas. You’ll see signs warning you about this at annual events in the city such as at the gates of the Folsom Street Fair. Then you will enter those gates and see plenty of people who are naked / mostly naked just dancing around and having a good time. Do it sensibly.
- How about Naked Yoga? San Francisco has places where you can get naked and practice yoga. It’s not a sexual thing at all but some who have done it would say that it’s totally sexy. Naked Yoga for Men is one place to do this.
- Take an Insider’s Tour of the North Beach Strip Clubs. Broadway Street in North Beach is dotted with strip clubs and the surrounding area includes some famous spots like the unionized Lusty Lady and the infamous Hustler Club. You can do dinner-and-a-tour with a group of other people and stop at a bunch of these places to see what types of ladies are dancing inside.
- Visit the city’s gay strip clubs. Girls (and men who are becoming girls) aren’t the only ones who are taking it off on stage in San Francisco. There are gay sex clubs scattered around the city that you can enjoy as well. Nob Hill Theatre is the best example.
- Attend a cuddle party. These parties aren’t about sex. They’re about getting together with strangers in a safe - often healing - environment and cuddling. You explore the power of touch and have a great chance to meet some cool new people who also like to cuddle.
- Go to a Crush Lab event. These are uber-modern speed dating events for San Francisco’s straighter singles. You get pre-screened to try to weed you out if you’re creepy and then invited to an event where 40-50 others will be in attendance. You play games, go through speed dating rounds and simply have a great time.
- Enjoy the art of lingerie modeling at the Nob Hill Lingerie and Mini Theatre. So you’re not quite into the strip club scene but you want something a little more intimate than the art of burlesque? How about the art of lingerie modeling? This small theatre is a cozy place where you can basically do a peep show of ladies who are modeling lingerie.
- Get groceries at the Marina Safeway. Buying groceries doesn’t sound all that sexy, does it? Ah, but this is no normal Safeway that you’re going to for your groceries. It’s well-known in the city as a place that people go to pick each other up. They’ve been doing it for decades - the fact is mentioned in passing in Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City (incidentally a super-sexy series that should be read by anyone who loves San Francisco). So this is some sexy grocery shopping.
- Indulge in magical cuisine in the Fantasy Room at Maharani. The Fantasy Room at this restaurant is one of the most romantic places to eat a meal anywhere in San Francisco. Paintings from the Kama Sutra are lit up by candlelight and the multi-course meals serves to satisfy every single one of your senses. It’s sexy in a dish.
- Try out Tantric Massage. San Francisco offers the opportunity to enjoy all different types of healing arts including the erotic art of tantra. Learn how to give and receive tantric massage at classes such as those offered at Tantra for Women (where couples are welcome as are “paired singles”).
- See a sexy live theatre performance. There are a lot of great theatres in San Francisco and many of them are on the more risque side (but we’re talking actual plays here, not those kind of theatres). A good place to learn about those performances is on the Tobygo.com Shows web page.
- See a sexy movie. There are a lot of film screenings and film festivals that happen throughout the year in San Francisco. These are often screened at the city’s sexiest theatres - like the Castro Theatre. Another option is to check out dinner and an outdoor screened movie at Foreign Cinema.
- Soak in The Hot Tubs. This place has jacuzzi spas and massage tables in private rooms that hold 2-6 people. You rent the room by the hour and you can pretty much do whatever you please in there as the people who work there just turn the other cheek. So to speak.
- Immerse yourself in the waters of Kabuki Springs. Those people who find the Hot Tubs on Van Ness to be a little bit too seedy for their tastes may find that they prefer the sensual indulgences available at the Kabuki Springs and Spa. There are women’s only and men’s only days that are clothing-optional as well as must-be-dressed co-ed days at this spa where you can get a massage or just relax in the waters.
- Go to one of the real bath houses. You’ve probably heard all about the baths if you know anything at all about gay culture and the history of that culture. Those bath houses are alive and well in San Francisco and you can go to enjoy them. Eros is a good example of one for men to visit.
- Join a sex club. People who want to find a place where they can meet others for safe sex need look no further than the city’s sex clubs. A good example for gay guys is Blow Buddies which has a few different types of events depending on your particular interests.
- Smoke cigars at Cigar Bar and Grill. There is just something Old World sexy about the smoking of cigars. This Jackson Square restaurant takes it to a whole new level with upscale food and an array of wine that compliment the fully-stocked humidor. As a bonus, this is one of very few restaurants with heated outdoor seating.
- Go to a pornorchestra performance. Are you one of those people who makes fun of the soundtracks when watching porn? If so then you might be interested in checking out this live event in which porn is played and a more appropriate soundtrack is orchestrated for you to enjoy. Events aren’t often but it’s something worth checking out if you come across one.
- Be in porn. If you’ve ever wanted to be a porn star yourself, this is a good city for it. You can find many jobs offered under the adult section of Craigslist.
- Get fetish or adult photos of yourself taken. If you don’t want to do full-on porn, you’ll find that you can go halfway (kind of like just making out instead of having sex) by getting professional photos taken of yourself from a reputable photographer in the area.
- Make out in an alley. San Francisco is a city that is filled with hidden (and not-so-hidden alleys). There are well-known ones (Clarion Alley with the murals in The Mission, Jack Kerouac Alley next to City Lights Bookstore in North Beach) but there are also tons of unknown short-block alleys that you can duck into for a lingering embrace.
- Enjoy a view. One of the best things about San Francisco is that this is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the number of different places there are to get on top of a hill or head to the heights of a tall building make it possible to see so many different great views here. Standing atop the city, looking out at something so beautiful, you can’t help but feel the sexiness of the city.
- Ride a cable car. Many of the people who live in San Francisco think that the cable cars are just for tourists. They’re missing out. Hop on a cable car at Powell and Market one night. Make sure it’s late at night when there aren’t too many people out. Don’t sit down; hang on to the outside of the cable car instead. As you make your way through the city, close your eyes and feel the vibration of the cable car course through your body. When you get to the end of your ride, see if you didn’t find it sexy.
- Go on a Mermaids / Mermans Cruise. That’s right, get out on the water of the San Francisco Bay for a sexy nighttime cruise complete with sexy entertainment. It costs $100 but that includes the cruise, the entertainment and free drinks. What you get in terms of entertainment is what has been dubbed a “floating lap dance” - basically a strip club in the form of an intimate cruise ship. Men, women and couples all welcome.
- Transform from Adam to Eve. Adam to Eve is a San Francisco school for men who are interested in crossdressing but who need some help making the right choices with makeup and clothing and pulling it all off. They offer makeovers, makeup lessons, personalized shopping trips, sexy photoshoots and more.
- Smell the passion flowers at The Botanical Gardens. The botanical gardens in Golden Gate Park are one of my favorite places in the city to visit although I admit that I don’t get over there often enough. (What can I say, I live in North Beach and it’s easy to get stuck in a pattern of staying in the same few neighborhoods.) According to the San Francisco Citizen, the park is home to one of the world’s rarest passion flowers. And even without that, it’s a romantic place to spend the day.
- Go to a Roller Derby game. Roller derby has got to be one of the sexiest sports that exists. The Roller Derby Girls in San Francisco also occasionally offer themselves up for other sexy events like mud wrestling.
- Take fire dancing classes at Temple of Poi. You can take fire dancing classes here in various styles that not only teach you the sexy art of dancing with fire but also teach you a lot about your own body and the movements that it can make. People who are a little bit afraid of actually learning to dance with fire themselves can just go check out fire dancing performances held by the school instead.
- Dance sensually at Sedusa Studios. This a huge sensual dance studio where women (sorry guys, it’s a women-only environment right now) can learn to get in touch with their inner drumbeat in classes that include sensual dance, chair dancing and go go dancing.
- Show off your sex knowledge at Sex Trivia Night. This is a new event in 2008 which happens on Wednesdays at Catalyst Cocktails. It puts a hot spin on the traditional bar trivia that you can enjoy elsewhere around town.
- Have fun with feet. If the foot fetish is your thing then there are a lot of places where you can go to indulge in your favorite fetish. One example for the guys is the once-monthly FootPartySF all-male foot party.
- Attend one of San Francisco’s sexy annual events. There’s the Sex Worker’s Art Show in January, the Folsom Street Fair in September and too many in between to list here. Check out this blog’s calendar of San Francisco’s sexiest annual events to see what’s going on all year long.
Sixty sexy things to do only takes up about sixty days in this terrific city so we need to get another list of another sixty sexy things going! To help, you can add your comments here with sexy activities that you would suggest to others in the city.
