Am I the Only One Who Finds this Funny?

There is a charity event taking place today in San Francisco which raises money for the really good cause of purchasing a Kids’ Van for a local organization to provide safe transportation to youth in San Francisco’s Western Addition housing projects. That really is a great cause and it’s an important event and there is probably nothing funny about it.

So why is it that I can’t help but snicker a little bit about it? Because the event is a cornhole tournament.

Yes, cornhole is a perfectly legitimate name for a game that has nothing to do with anything about sex. It’s basically like horseshoes except that you are using corn bags to play instead of playing with horseshoes. But anyone who knows their sex dictionary knows that there’s an entirely different meaning of the word cornhole that’s got nothing to do with wholesome corn games.

The cornhole game goes by a bunch of other names including Corn Toss and Beanbag Toss and Soft Horseshoes. So why is the charity group using the sexually-suggestive name of Cornhole. According to their website, it’s because “to those who originated the game in the area of northern Kentucky and the southern part of Ohio, the game is passionately referred to as Cornhole”. Passionately.

So it’s an important cause that doesn’t have anything to do with sex and I totally support anyone who goes out there today to help out. I just think you should be aware that telling people you went to a cornhole fundraiser in San Francisco is going to raise some eyebrows.

Or maybe I’ve just got a dirty mind because I also saw a Craigslist event posting today announcing a Stand Up Paddle Clinic and my first thought was that this was some sort of Folsom-related event demo-ing spanking in the BDSM scene. It’s not - it’s for the water sport of paddle boarding. Hm, won’t even go there.
